Hi Guys
I am e-mailing you from Ethiopia. You see, I have a 2cv with 602 cc engine. Do not ask me the technical details of the car because I have modifyed so many things since I can not get spare parts in my country and to import parts is more expensive (It will be cheaper to buy another brand car). I like the car and have travelled across Ethiopia many years. Now the car is very old and needs almost a new chassis. I want to build the cahssis and resume my raid again. To tell you guys openly, I do not have any idea as how to go through "chassis restoration + reinforcement". I appriciate any body who can be of assistance in this matter. A detailed info will help me.
Thanks
Tariku

Need help
Hi Tariku,
Regarding spare parts, can't you order from webshops like ECAS www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk?
For you chassis the bottumline is that you need to get the welder out!
I, and I assume most others here, find it hard to give advice without seeing what the exact problem is. So if you are going to rebuild your chassis you better show pictures of the actual rust problem.
For reinforcements I would advice to weld plates in the side of the chassis. Furthermore you should try to find "ici commnce le aventure" (or something simular spelled). That is the guide citroen made many years ago for raid car modifications.
Good luck and all the best in 2009!, Bart

Hi Tariku,
Nice to see you found our forum. Although it's most dutch spoken here, we are willing to help you.
Maybe a book like this will help you ?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Restore-Cit ... 1903706440
It's not clear to me if you want to build your own new chassis, or do you want to repair the old one, or do you want to buy a new chassis ?
Do you have any pictures of your 2cv ?
I think it's really interesting to see how someone can drive a 2cv in a country without 2cv garages and 2cv parts supliers.
Succes !!
Marcel
